To drive one of the Union's Minibuses you will have to sit a Minibus driving test. The driving test will last approximately one hour per person and usually three people are assessed at a time, so you need to be free for three hours. Tests should be booked in the diary at the SUSU Reception Desk.
Driving tests can be at any time, but there is usually one on a Wednesday afternoon at 2pm. Most weeks another test will take place at another time - check the diary. If you cannot make these times then you should email the minibus manager to make a mutually convenient time.
To take a test you must first apply to be put on the Union insurance. Collect a green form from the union reception desk. Complete the form and take it with your student card and driving license to the Buildings Manager on level 2 of the Students' Union. He will check your eligibility to drive and sign the form. Once a green form has been signed, you may book a minibus test in the diary.
You should be aware of the following points before taking the test:
You should be Over 21 with a minimum of 3 years driving experience.
You should hold a Full UK driving licence with no endorsements.
You should not have had an accident that was your fault in the last 5 years.
Although not necessary, it would help if you have had some experience driving Transit vans.
Please Note: If you do not have D1 & D1 + E clearly stipulated on your licence, you CAN still drive a minibus on a voluntary basis but you CANNOT tow a trailer of any sort with a minibus that has more than 8 seats.
