Why hasn't the Students' Union banned Coca-Cola?
“The Union has not banned Coca-Cola quite simply because we pride ourselves on our students being intelligent enough to make up their own minds. We also pride ourselves on discussing issues that solely affect our students, which is why we achieve so much more than the hugely backwards and wasteful NUS.
If you ban Coca-Cola, where does it stop? Surely there will be something unethical about Pepsi too and then before you know it nobody can enjoy a soft drink in the Union anymore. Beer gets people drunk, I think that’s unethical so let’s boycott it… so, again, before you know it the Union shuts down… all because a few people want to enforce their personal politics and ethics on a student body that is smart enough to get into this top University and therefore smart enough to make their own choices in life.”
