   I want to make a switch from Windows to an Apple Mac and I was just wondering if any issues might arise with the halls network etc?

you should be fine with an Apple Mac. There will be no networking issues. Macbooks are very popular on campus. We run a mix of macs and pc's at the university. enjoy your new mac they really are nice computers.
